Zee

Tank and Dozer's sister and Link's superstitious wife.

Zee (played by Nona Gaye) is a native Zionite who lost her brothers Dozer and Tank, both killed while serving aboard the Nebuchadnezzar. She is the superstitious wife of Link, the ship's Operator, and worries for him because the Nebuchadnezzar returns to Zion less frequently than other ships.

Lore & Background

Zee joins the resistance and plays a critical role in the final battle at Zion, saving the Kid from a Sentinel and allowing him to shoot the dock gates open for the Mjolnir, with Link inside, to enter Zion and deliver the battle-ending EMP. Link wears her fortune necklace as he detonates the EMP, and later tells her he will never take it off.

Reader's Guide

The role of Zee was originally given to singer and actress Aaliyah, who was killed in a plane crash on August 25, 2001, before she could complete shooting her part for The Matrix Reloaded. Nona Gaye was named as her replacement in April 2002 and was nominated for an NAACP Image Award for the role.
