The masked former Black Dragon who breathes through a respirator.
Kabal is a former member of Kano's Black Dragon crime syndicate who became one of Raiden's champions. Shao Kahn's extermination squads maimed and scarred him, leaving him dependent on a respirator, and he left the Black Dragon.
Lore & Background
In Deception Havik tasks him with rebuilding the Black Dragon, and he recruits the arms dealer Kira and the killer Kobra; in Armageddon he offers Taven membership and is beaten. The 2011 reboot makes him a former Black Dragon who became an NYPD riot officer partnered with Kurtis Stryker. Kintaro injures him, Kano kidnaps him and, with Shang Tsung's help, fits him with a respirator; he escapes to rejoin Raiden but is killed by Sindel and turned into a revenant by Quan Chi.
Reader's Guide
He was nicknamed 'Sandman' while MK3 was being made. John Tobias based his look on the Tusken Raiders of Star Wars and his mask lenses on 1940s aviator goggles. He was notorious for being overpowered in MK3.
