Fujin

The wind god who succeeds Raiden as Earthrealm's protector.

Fujin is the god of wind, based on the Japanese deity of the same name. He first appears as an unnamed boss in Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero, where he fails to stop Sub-Zero taking Shinnok's amulet, and makes his playable debut in Mortal Kombat 4.

Lore & Background

When Raiden becomes an Elder God, Fujin takes over as Earthrealm's protector. He returns in Armageddon and is beaten by Taven when he tries to stop his quest. In the rebooted timeline he fights the Netherrealm's forces beside Raiden in Mortal Kombat X's story and becomes playable in Mortal Kombat 11's Aftermath, where he, Shang Tsung and Nightwolf try to obtain Kronika's crown. Shang Tsung betrays him and drains his soul, keeping him alive to feed on his power forever.

Reader's Guide

Prima Games named him one of the cheapest characters because his main weapon in Mortal Kombat 4 was a crossbow; later games limited it to special moves.
