Scorpion's Spear

Scorpion's rope spear and its 'Get over here!'

Scorpion's spear is his signature special move throughout the series: he hurls a harpoon-like spear on a length of rope that impales the opponent through the chest, then pulls them in for a free hit. The original Scorpion, Hanzo Hasashi, was a ninja of the Shirai Ryu clan.

Lore & Background

When the spear lands Scorpion yells one of two taunts, 'Get over here!' or 'Come here!'. Ed Boon thought it would be funny for him to shout 'Get over here!' with the throw and recorded the lines himself. Boon later listed creating the spear move among his own high points of the series, recalling people in his office uppercutting speared opponents all day. The other early ninjas, including the hidden Reptile, Smoke and Noob Saibot, also borrowed Scorpion's spear when fought in secret battles.

Reader's Guide

Later 3D games gave Scorpion two katanas on his back and attached his spear to a rope, separating him more from the other ninjas.
