Skarlet is a warrior created by Shao Kahn with sorcery and the blood of countless fighters. She debuted in the 2011 reboot, where her task is to learn Quan Chi's real reason for attending the Mortal Kombat tournament.

Mortal Kombat 11 changes her background: she is an orphan adopted by Shao Kahn to learn blood magic and becomes his bodyguard and assassin. She fights with kodachi swords and kunai and can turn into blood, absorb her victims' blood and control it.

Like the Ermac rumors of the first game, she began as a character who never existed: players reported a Mortal Kombat II glitch, nicknamed 'Scarlet', that turned Kitana's or Mileena's palette red. Nearly twenty years later she was made one of the reboot's first downloadable fighters.
