Lore & Background
In MK3 he is a historian and shaman whose tribal land, protected by shamanic magic, shelters Raiden's chosen defenders. In Deception he becomes a Sin Eater, taking his tribe's sins into himself, and uses them in the Netherrealm to tear Onaga out of Reptile and bind him there. In the 2011 reboot he loses to Scorpion in the first tournament, destroys the Soulnado during the invasion and sacrifices himself to kill Sindel, after which Quan Chi claims his soul. Mortal Kombat 11's Aftermath has a past Nightwolf help Shang Tsung and Fujin fetch Kronika's crown, only to be betrayed by Shang Tsung and Sindel.
Reader's Guide
He was known simply as 'Indian' during early development, and Ed Boon promised a nontraditional take. Midway artist Sal DiVita played him. His portrayal has been criticised as a Native American stereotype.
