The crystal names four youths the Warriors of Light and sends them to restore balance.
In Final Fantasy III a crystal dubs four youths the Warriors of Light, grants them the last of its power and instructs them to restore balance to the world. Through special crystals they gain the Job Change System, switching between a variety of jobs at any time.
Lore & Background
On their journey they help the princess Sara pacify a rogue djinn, find Desch, the last survivor of an ancient civilisation, while destroying a tower that threatens the region, and gain the airship Invincible from the engineer Cid. They also receive power from the Fire Crystal, which is under attack from servants of the mage Xande.
Doga and Unei, students of the Magus Noah, reveal that Xande resents the gift of mortality their master gave him and attacked the crystals to halt time's flow, which made the Wind Crystal raise the Floating Continent to safety. With the Earth Crystal's final blessing, the Warriors break into Xande's Crystal Tower; they defeat him, but the imbalance summons the Cloud of Darkness, which absorbs Xande and seeks to return existence to the void.
