Crusaders
Spira's loosely knit army that protects towns and temples from Sin.
The Crusaders, formerly known as the Crimson Blades, are a loosely knit, semi-military organisation in Final Fantasy X that exists to protect Spira's towns and temples from Sin and other monsters. Members include the high-ranking Luzzu and the younger, lower-ranked Gatta; Wakka's brother Chappu died a year before the game fighting Sin.
Lore & Background
Their leader, a Maester of Yevon who also commands the Warrior Monks and is an old friend of Auron, is killed by Seymour after Yuna's trial. In Final Fantasy X-2 the Crimson Squad was intended as an elite unit to surpass the Crusaders, with its best members meant to lead Crusader chapters across Spira; Paine was one of its members.
In Operation Mi'ihen the Crusaders and the Al Bhed join forces to stop Sin using machina. Yevon set the operation up to deepen loyalty to its teachings, knowing the machina could never win.
