Background
Ezio Auditore da Firenze takes his fight against the Templars, led by the Borgia family, to Rome. There he rebuilds the Assassin Brotherhood in Italy and works to free the city from Borgia control.
In the 21st century framing story, Desmond Miles uses the Animus to search Ezio's memories for a way to stop the 2012 apocalypse. Brotherhood was also the first game in the series with a multiplayer mode, in which players take the role of Templars in training.
Critics praised the setting, the new content and the multiplayer, and the game won a BAFTA award for Best Action Game. It had shipped 7.2 million units by May 2011.
