Background
Two linked characters lead the story. Haytham Kenway is a British Templar building his Order's presence in the colonies during the French and Indian War, and his half-Mohawk son Ratonhnhaké:ton, known as Connor, becomes an Assassin to protect his people and avenge his mother.
Connor can freely explore Boston, New York City and the American frontier. Ubisoft built a new engine, AnvilNext, for the game.
It was one of the first major games to feature Mohawk people prominently, and the team consulted cultural experts on how Connor and other Mohawk characters were shown. A remaster followed in 2019.
