Background
In the series' alternate history, Ezio is born into a noble Florentine family in 1459. His family had long served the Assassins, but he only learns this in his late teens, after most of his close relatives are executed during the Pazzi conspiracy.
His hunt for those responsible sets him against the Templars, who are led locally by the House of Borgia. After decades fighting Rodrigo and Cesare Borgia he restores the Assassins in Italy and becomes their Mentor in 1503, and later adventures take him to Spain and the Ottoman Empire.
He eventually retires to Tuscany with his family and dies of a heart attack in Florence in 1524. He is often named among the greatest video game characters of all time.
