Elena Fisher

Lore & Background

Elena Fisher began her career as a field journalist for a television network, driven by a passion for uncovering historical truths. Her first encounter with Nathan Drake occurs when she tracks him to the Pacific Ocean, where he has discovered Sir Francis Drake's coffin. Despite initial friction over her reporting — she stows away on his boat, camera in hand — she joins Nathan's quest for El Dorado, proving her bravery and quick thinking in combat and puzzle-solving. Her journalistic ethics often clash with Nathan's opportunistic treasure hunting, but she consistently demonstrates a willingness to risk her life for what is right, such as when she insists on exposing the truth about the Spanish treasure fleet in Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, even as gunfire erupts around her.

Reader's Guide

Elena Fisher is the primary love interest and later wife of Nathan Drake, evolving from a supporting journalist to a full-fledged partner in treasure hunting. In Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, she is a TV reporter who joins Nathan's search for El Dorado, often providing commentary and comic relief — and proving she can handle a pistol as well as a microphone. In Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, she returns as a more capable ally, aiding Nathan in Nepal and Tibet, and their romantic relationship deepens amid collapsing temples and helicopter fire.

Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception sees her married to Nathan but separated, though she rejoins him for the climax in the Rub' al Khali, driving a jeep through a sandstorm with grim determination. In Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, she is a supportive wife who initially encourages Nathan to leave treasure hunting behind, but ultimately joins him in a final adventure through Madagascar and Libertalia, her camera capturing both beauty and danger. Her signature moments include driving a jeep through a collapsing city in Uncharted 2 and confronting Nathan about his lies in Uncharted 3 with a quiet fury that cuts deeper than any bullet.

Voiced by Emily Rose, Elena is known for her grounded demeanor, resourcefulness, and moral compass, often serving as the voice of reason — and the one who calls Nathan on his nonsense. Her design evolved from a practical journalist's attire (khakis, vest, sensible boots) to a more rugged adventurer look (leather jacket, climbing gear, scarred knuckles), reflecting her growth from reporter to survivor.
