Shambhala
The hidden Himalayan city of the Cintamani Stone and the Tree of Life.
Shambhala, also called Shangri-La, is the mythical lost city at the heart of Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. Although it is hidden in the Himalayas, it has an almost tropical climate and is full of the ruins of a vanished civilisation. It holds the Cintamani Stone and the Tree of Life, and its guardians, the last remnants of its original people, defend it.

Background
Little is known about the city's past; its builders were probably natives of ancient Tibet, and its position inside a hidden river valley made it easy to defend. At some point its society collapsed and the city emptied, leaving only guardians made superhuman by the sap of the Tree of Life. Over time it became a legend, reached only by a few explorers such as Marco Polo and Karl Schäfer before Nathan Drake.
