Appearances

Jessie first appears at a dinner party for the Alexandria Safe-Zone community, where she is nervous and quiet. She refuses to discuss her marital problems, but Rick Grimes privately confronts her, and she admits Pete has been physically abusive while still standing by him and protecting their son Ron. Jessie grieves briefly but feels relief, expresses gratitude to Rick, and later makes romantic advances that he returns. During a horde attack, Jessie, Rick, his son Carl, and Ron cover themselves in guts to move through the walkers. The plan fails: Ron is devoured, Jessie is bitten, and she cannot release Carl's hand, forcing Rick to amputate her hand with a hatchet. Sgt. Abraham Ford later finds her devoured and reanimated and shoots her.

Casting

Breckenridge had not watched the show before her casting; she watched all four seasons in a week after getting the part. Breckenridge noted that in the comics her character has short black hair with bangs and a headband and is a weaker character, while she enjoyed playing a stronger version on the show.
