Aaron's partner and 'insurance policy' on Alexandria's recruiting runs.

Eric is Aaron's boyfriend and partner in the comic book series, serving as Aaron's "insurance policy" with the duty of killing anyone who might harm Aaron or the community. He is stabbed during an attempt to recruit a young woman after he finds her trying to steal Maggie's horse.

Background

Aaron rushes Eric back to the Safe-Zone, where Doctor Cloyd treats him and he recovers quickly. When zombies attack the Safe-Zone, Eric and Aaron hide at first and then join the fight. The pair later join Rick's group when it leaves the community in search of food.

Eric has little to do with the Saviors, but he is on the Alexandria wall beside Carl and Rosita when Negan arrives. He tells Carl not to try to shoot Negan; Carl fires anyway and hits Negan's bat Lucille, which brings Savior gunfire down on their position. When Negan asks the people of Alexandria to throw Carl over the wall, Eric answers him with an obscenity.

Eric is one of several people killed with a shot to the head as Rick's squad storms the Savior outpost. Aaron, running up behind him, catches him as he collapses and mourns his partner while bullets fly; Rick tells Aaron to take cover, and a vengeful Aaron is among the first to breach the outpost. Rick's troops bring Eric's body home, where he is presumably buried, and Heath later consoles the grieving Aaron in his home, the two remembering better times when Eric was alive.
