Holly

Background

Holly repeatedly pushes Abraham on interpersonal matters and at one point urges him to try to take charge of the group, though that never comes to pass. She is devastated by Abraham's death. Together with Rick, Heath and Nicholas she goes after the Saviors to kill Negan and his men once and for all; Carl tries to shoot Negan but hits Lucille instead, and the furious Negan demands that Carl be thrown over the wall or he will execute Holly and the others.

Holly volunteers to travel with Rick, Paul and Ezekiel to the Sanctuary, the Saviors' main base. After the group lures walkers to converge on the base, she notices that Rick is not on her bus, escapes Paul's attempt to keep her aboard and finds him. Rick orders her back to the bus but she refuses, arguing that the man who killed Abraham is inside and that she should be the one to make the sacrifice; she knees Rick in the groin, steals the truck and drives it through the fence. Wounded in the crash and attacked by a walker, she is saved by Negan, who tells her she "isn't getting off that easy" and takes her captive.

Negan mistakes Holly for Andrea and admires how quickly she has healed from the fight with Connor; Holly corrects him, saying she was with Abraham, and reminds Dwight who Abraham was. When David nearly rapes her, Negan steps in, kills him and insists the Saviors are not monsters. Holly goes unmentioned until Negan attacks Alexandria and offers to return her in exchange for a talk; with a bag over her head she is already a walker, and when Denise unmasks her she bites Denise's arm before Rick shoots her in the head.
