Sai

Sai is a Konohagakure ninja in Naruto who joins Team Kakashi in Part II as Sasuke Uchiha's replacement, a former member of the Foundation trained to feel nothing.

Background

Kishimoto deliberately made Sai resemble Sasuke so that he would stand out as his replacement. Raised in the Foundation from childhood, he was trained to have and want no emotion or camaraderie, even after killing his surrogate brother Shin on Danzo's orders. He labels people by their status, and calling Sasuke a traitor sets Naruto and Sakura against him; once they learn his past and warm to him, he begins to long for bonds with others, which becomes his main goal.

His attempts to form bonds can be humorous as he tries giving pet names to others, since he says exactly what he thinks of a person, calling Choji "fatso" and Sakura "ugly"; learning from those mistakes he tries the opposite and calls Ino "beautiful", which makes her fall for him. When not working on his relationships Sai paints and draws, and has produced thousands of untitled works. His art is also his weapon: he infuses his brush with chakra to bring his drawings to life in battle.

In the epilogue he marries Ino Yamanaka and they have a son, Inojin. Of all the protagonists he receives the least screen time in the New Era. Satoshi Hino voices him in Naruto: Shippūden; Benjamin Diskin voices him in English, except in Rock Lee and his Ninja Pals, where Lucien Dodge does.
