Background

Ms. Joke's general look was inspired by the DC Comics supervillain Joker, a theme that is clearest when she is around Shota Aizawa; unlike Batman and the Joker, with their clashing personalities and worldviews, the two get along well and understand each other. Known for a cheerful, outgoing personality, she keeps a goofy, somewhat obnoxious sense of humour on full display and jumps at any chance to make people laugh, and she flirts shamelessly with Shota in an endless effort to crack his cold exterior and get him to smile.

Although her behaviour looks unprofessional, she takes her work as a teacher and Pro Hero very seriously and clearly has a thorough grasp of heroics, as her commentary throughout the license exam shows. After the exam ends with a substantial share of both her class and Shota's passing, she suggests the two classes carry out joint training in the future, and Shota agrees.
