Stryker
The New York riot cop with no powers, only modern weapons.
Kurtis Stryker is an NYPD riot control officer chosen by Raiden to help defend Earthrealm from Outworld. He is one of the few characters with no special powers and uses explosives, firearms, tasers and nightsticks for his special moves and Fatalities.
Lore & Background
In Mortal Kombat 3 he leads the riot brigade when Outworld's portal opens over New York; when Shao Kahn takes every human soul except those of Raiden's chosen warriors, Stryker is spared and fights to avenge the people he swore to protect, helping free Earthrealm. In Armageddon he still does not know why he was chosen and dies with the other fighters in the final battle. In the 2011 reboot he is Kabal's SWAT leader, is killed by Sindel, and is raised by Quan Chi to fight Raiden; he later appears as a revenant in Mortal Kombat X and 11.
Reader's Guide
A 'Kurtis Stryker' was planned for the first game but dropped for Sonya Blade; the idea became Jax in Mortal Kombat II, and Stryker finally appeared in MK3. Ron Perlman voiced him in Defenders of the Realm.
