Shirai Ryu
Scorpion's clan of ninja.
The Shirai Ryu is the ninja clan of Scorpion. The original Scorpion, Hanzo Hasashi, was a Shirai Ryu ninja whom the sorcerer Quan Chi sent to find a map in a Shaolin temple, while secretly giving the same task to Bi-Han of the rival Lin Kuei.
Lore & Background
Bi-Han kills Hasashi in the fight that follows, and Quan Chi slaughters the Shirai Ryu along with Hasashi's wife Harumi and son Satoshi. In Armageddon the Elder Gods revive the clan and his family but as undead beings. In the 2011 timeline Scorpion rebuilds the Shirai Ryu over the next two decades and trains Kenshi's son Takeda. In Mortal Kombat 1 Kuai Liang, now Scorpion, and Smoke found the Shirai Ryu with Harumi's help, and in the Khaos Reigns expansion Bi-Han's Lin Kuei ambush the clan at Kuai Liang's wedding.
