Netherrealm
The fiery realm of demons and the damned.
The Netherrealm is one of the realms of the Mortal Kombat universe. The Mortal Kombat: Deception manual describes its fiery depths as hostile to all but the most vile, home to demons and shadowy warriors such as Quan Chi and Noob Saibot.
Lore & Background
The fallen Elder God Shinnok was banished there and, in Mortal Kombat 4, escapes with Quan Chi's help to attack the realms. Noob Saibot, Sareena, Ashrah, Drahmin and Moloch are among the characters from the Netherrealm. In the 2011 reboot Quan Chi turns Earthrealm's fallen heroes into his revenants there, and after Mortal Kombat X the revenants of Liu Kang and Kitana take control of the realm. Raiden throws Kronika's enforcer Geras into its bottomless Sea of Blood in Mortal Kombat 11.
