Noob Saibot

The black-clad wraith who was once the first Sub-Zero.

Noob Saibot is an undead wraith from the Netherrealm and a member of the Brotherhood of the Shadow, a cult that worships a fallen Elder God later revealed as Shinnok. His Deception ending reveals that he is Bi-Han, the first Sub-Zero, brought back after Scorpion killed him.

Lore & Background

In Deception he finds, reactivates and reprograms the cyborg ninja Smoke to serve as the model for an undead cyborg army. In the 2011 reboot Quan Chi and Shao Kahn resurrect him; while guarding the Soulnado he is beaten by his brother Kuai Liang, the new Sub-Zero, and pulled into it. He returns in Mortal Kombat 11 as a stronger servant of Kronika. In Mortal Kombat 1's Khaos Reigns expansion (2024), Titan Havik captures Bi-Han and turns him into Saibot.

Reader's Guide

His name is Ed Boon and John Tobias's surnames spelled backwards. He first appeared in Mortal Kombat II as a hidden, all-black palette swap of the male ninjas, fought after winning fifty straight matches; Boon added him without telling Tobias, who later wrote his backstory as a Netherrealm wraith. His 'Make a Wish' Fatality from the 2011 game was shown by Jon Stewart on The Daily Show.
