Sheeva

The series' only female Shokan, Sindel's bodyguard.

Sheeva is a Shokan warrior like Goro and Kintaro and the series' only female member of the four-armed race. She debuted in Mortal Kombat 3 as Queen Sindel's appointed bodyguard after Shao Kahn's invasion of Earth. The Shokan and Motaro's Centaurians are bitter enemies, and she has a long rivalry with him.

Lore & Background

She was not playable again until Armageddon, which included the whole roster. In the 2011 reboot she is playable from the start and plays a small story role as Shao Kahn's bodyguard and jailer. Mortal Kombat 11 added her in the Aftermath expansion, where she helps a time-travelling Shang Tsung take Kronika's Crown of Souls because of her blood oath to Sindel, and helps revive Sindel, but is beaten when she turns against Sindel's treachery.

Reader's Guide

Her name comes from Shiva, the Hindu god of destruction. She was made because fans wanted a playable Goro, as a stop-motion clay figure, and John Tobias chose a female version because she would be smaller on screen. She was left out of the home versions of Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 for memory reasons.
