Mosasaurus Lagoon

The apex predator that ended the Indominus Rex rampage.

The Mosasaurus Lagoon serves as the primary aquatic exhibit within the Jurassic World theme park on Isla Nublar. This enclosure houses the park's Mosasaurus, a marine reptile that became a central figure in the facility's history. A Mosasaurus feeding show was among the sets built for the film. It was part of the park's operation before chaos erupted on the island.

Lore & Background

Constructed as a key attraction for the reopened Jurassic World, the lagoon was designed to sustain the massive Mosasaurus. The facility operated successfully for years until the park plunged into chaos following the escape of the transgenic dinosaur known as the Indominus rex. During the crisis, the Indominus escaped its paddock and eventually reached the resort area. While the hybrid was cornered at the lagoon's edge by a Tyrannosaurus rex and a Velociraptor named Blue, it was dragged underwater by the Mosasaurus. This event marked the end of the Indominus threat. Six months later, when a mercenary team came to collect DNA from the Indominus remains in the lagoon, the Mosasaurus devoured their submersible and swam through the partially open underwater gates into the open ocean.

During the pterosaur attack on the resort, Claire's assistant Zara fell into the lagoon and was devoured by the Mosasaurus. During the park's operation, the creature was known to breach the surface for feeding displays. After the Indominus incident, the survivors were evacuated and the island was abandoned.
