Sam Neill
The New Zealand actor who played Dr Alan Grant across three Jurassic films.
Sam Neill (1947-2026) was a New Zealand actor, born in Northern Ireland and raised in Christchurch from 1954. A leading man in film and television, he was nominated for three Primetime Emmy Awards and two Golden Globes, and was made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire in 1991.
He became internationally known as the paleontologist Dr Alan Grant in Jurassic Park (1993), and returned to the part in Jurassic Park III (2001) and Jurassic World Dominion (2022). His other films include My Brilliant Career, Dead Calm, The Hunt for Red October, The Piano, Event Horizon and Hunt for the Wilderpeople.
