Isla Nublar
The island off Costa Rica where both Jurassic Park and Jurassic World were built.
Isla Nublar is a fictional Central American island and the main setting of the first novel, its 1993 film adaptation and Jurassic World. The novel says the name means "Cloud Island" in Spanish. The tropical island lies 120 miles west of Costa Rica and has a dormant volcano.
In the first novel and film it is the site of Jurassic Park, InGen's dinosaur theme park, which never opens because the animals escape. In the novel the Costa Rican government has the island napalmed; in the films it survives, and Masrani Global Corporation later opens Jurassic World there successfully, until the Indominus rex incident leaves the island to the dinosaurs again. In Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom the volcano erupts and destroys the island. Hawaiian islands, including Oahu and Kauai, stood in for Isla Nublar on film.
