Robert Muldoon served as the game warden and survivalist for Isla Nublar, working directly under John Hammond’s bioengineering firm, InGen. Introduced during the initial team presentation at the park headquarters alongside engineers John Arnold, Dennis Nedry, and geneticist Henry Wu, he was tasked with managing the safety of living dinosaur specimens. Unlike other staff members focused on construction or genetics, Muldoon approached the park with a survivalist mindset, recognizing the animals as lethal predators rather than mere attractions. His role became critical when security systems failed, forcing him to rely on traditional hunting and tracking skills to navigate a collapsing facility where the very creatures he monitored had escaped their enclosures.

Early in the tour, Grant, Sattler, Malcolm and Tim visit the raptor pen, where Grant realizes that the raptors were testing the fences for weaknesses and followed a unique hunting strategy. This observation foreshadowed the catastrophic breach that followed when Dennis Nedry disabled the security systems. As the park collapsed, Muldoon attempted to hunt down the escaped Tyrannosaurus rex alongside lawyer Donald Gennaro in the sauropod paddock. He shot it with a large tranquilizer dart, and he and Gennaro escaped; the animal later fainted because of the dart. Later, when raptors escaped their enclosure, Muldoon used a rocket launcher to shoot one of them, causing it to explode.
