To maintain interest in the park, Masrani and his team pursued the creation of new attractions, leading to the development of the Indominus rex by Dr. Henry Wu. In Their Own Story

Simon Masrani, CEO of the corporation, personally inspected the park alongside Claire Dearing, the operations manager. During one such inspection, they viewed the Indominus rex in its enclosure. When Masrani tasked Owen Grady with evaluating the security, Owen warned that the dinosaur was dangerous due to its lack of social skills. After the Indominus seemingly escaped, Masrani refused to destroy it, prioritizing the protection of his company's investment over immediate safety. Instead, he ordered a unit to subdue it using non-lethal weaponry. When most of that unit was killed, the situation escalated. Later, Masrani and two soldiers attempted to hunt the Indominus by helicopter. The dinosaur broke into the park's aviary, startling Pteranodons and Dimorphodons. These pterosaurs flew into the helicopter, causing it to crash and killing Masrani and his passengers. Before his death, Masrani had confronted Dr. Wu about the design of the Indominus, highlighting the corporation's internal conflict between ambition and safety.
