Lore & Background

In reality, paleontologists understand the Therizinosaurus as a slow-moving, plant-eating dinosaur that used its massive forelimbs to strip vegetation from high branches. Within the franchise, however, it is often depicted with an air of looming, silent menace. Its sheer size and weapon-like claws create a paradox: it may not hunt for meat, but it possesses the physical tools to dismantle anything that threatens its space or food source.

Reader's Guide

The Therizinosaurus faction in the Jurassic universe represents the unique and often misunderstood herbivorous theropods brought back to life. Unlike aggressive carnivores that drive conflict, this group prioritizes survival and feeding within designated habitats. In the film the Therizinosaurus is partially blind due to cataracts and uses echolocation to get around.
