Kaname Tōsen

Lore & Background

Tōsen "sees" through his spiritual sense. He is calm, serious and a pacifist whose motto, taken from a close friend of his, is to take the path with the least bloodshed, though he will fight for justice. That friend was murdered by her husband, Tokinada Tsunayashiro, and when the killer went free Tōsen lost faith in Soul Society, which leads him to join Aizen at the end of the Soul Society arc.

He undergoes Hollowification before the battle in Fake Karakura Town and fully turns into a Hollow while fighting Sajin Komamura, his close friend. Lost in the joy of seeing for the first time, he is struck down by his former lieutenant Shūhei Hisagi. Dying, he makes peace with Komamura and asks to see Hisagi's face, but Aizen lets his body burst before that can happen.

Suzumushi

His sword works through vibration. The shikai gives a high-pitched tone that knocks out anyone who hears it, and a second form, Benihiko, rains hundreds of blades on his enemies. The bankai, Suzumushi Tsuishiki Enma Korogi, wraps him and his opponents in a dome that removes their senses. After Aizen modifies him he gains Vizard powers and a Resurrección, Suzumushi Hyakushiki Grillar Grillo, that turns him into an insect-like Hollow with sight. That gives Suzumushi more known release forms than any other zanpakutō.
