The Medicine Cat pool
The starlit pool where the medicine cats of the lake meet their ancestors.
The medicine cats' pool of the lake territories is the Moonpool, a secluded pool of water through which Clan cats communicate with StarClan in Warriors. It replaces the Moonstone, the sacred stone of the old forest that the Clans left behind. Medicine cats travel there for their regular meetings and to share tongues with StarClan, and new leaders go there to receive their nine lives.

Lore & Background
In Starlight, after the Clans settle by the lake, the medicine cats worry that Onewhisker has no Moonstone to visit for his leadership ceremony. The spirit of Spottedleaf leads the apprentice Leafpaw, with her friend Sorreltail, far up ThunderClan's territory near the WindClan border to a pool that reflects the stars and moonlight, where Leafpaw sees the cats of StarClan and Bluestar tells her what the place is for. Leafpaw tells Cinderpelt and the two of them tell the other medicine cats. In The Fourth Apprentice the warrior Poppyfrost slips away to the Moonpool, and Jayfeather, who follows her, is attacked there by Breezepelt and the spirit of Brokenstar until the spirit of Honeyfern drives them off. In Changing Skies a human building project threatens the pool; when the humans leave, the Clans find that its connection to StarClan has been destroyed.
