ShadowClan
The Clan that gave the forest most of its villains, and later some of its heroes.
ShadowClan is one of the five warrior Clans in Warriors, alongside ThunderClan, WindClan, RiverClan and SkyClan. In the early books it is the home of most of the series' antagonists; from Omen of the Stars onward the story also follows ShadowClan protagonists. Like every Clan it has a leader, a deputy, a medicine cat and warriors, shares the belief in StarClan and lives in a territory suited to its skills. After the Clans leave the forest, ShadowClan settles in a coniferous forest beside the lake.

Lore & Background
When Firestar first comes to the forest, ShadowClan is led by Brokenstar, who kills kits by sending them into battle before they are strong enough to defend themselves. After Brokenstar is banished the elder Nightstar steps up, but he never receives nine lives, and he leads the Clan through a sickness brought by rats before dying. The exiled ThunderClan deputy Tigerstar succeeds him and tries to bring all four Clans under his rule. Blackstar, deputy to both Brokenstar and Tigerstar, leads the Clan next; in Eclipse the loner Sol persuades him to give up his faith in StarClan, and in Long Shadows the spirits of Raggedstar and Runningnose restore it. Rowanclaw follows Blackstar and steps down after failing to deal with Darktail's rogues, who almost succeed in disbanding ShadowClan in A Vision of Shadows. The second Tigerstar, grandson of the first, leads the Clan after him.
