The Dark Forest
The Place of No Stars, where the cruellest spirits of the Clans walk.
The Dark Forest, also called the Place of No Stars, is the afterlife of Clan cats who were not good in life in Warriors. It is the opposite of StarClan: a never-ending forest, likened to Hell, where the spirits of cats who caused great pain and suffering are sent as punishment. Its cats, led by the spirit of the first Tigerstar, are the enemy of Omen of the Stars, which ends in a battle between them and the living Clans.
Lore & Background
The stray One Eye, who troubled the first Clans, is named as the founder of the Dark Forest, and the ancient she-cat Mapleshade haunts the dreams of Crookedstar and the first Tigerstar from there. After his death Tigerstar visits his sons Brambleclaw and Hawkfrost in their dreams, and later trains his grandson Lionpaw in battle moves. In Omen of the Stars the Dark Forest recruits living cats by training them in their sleep, among them Breezepelt, Tigerheart and Ivypaw; Ivypaw learns she has been lied to and becomes a spy for Jayfeather, Lionblaze and Dovewing.
In The Last Hope the Dark Forest cats take bodily form and attack the Clans. Yellowfang kills the spirit of her son Brokenstar, Brambleclaw kills Hawkfrost's spirit, and Firestar ends the battle by killing Tigerstar's spirit, and dies himself. In The Broken Code, Bramblestar's spirit is trapped in the Dark Forest while Ashfur holds his body.
