Children of the Light
Militarised religious order, the Whitecloaks, sworn to destroy anyone who channels.
The Children of the Light, known as the Whitecloaks, are a quasi-religious, militarised order bent on destroying anyone who channels the One Power, whom they believe to be servants of the Shadow. They oppose the Aes Sedai and do not believe in the prophecies of the Dragon.
Lore & Background
Their Lord Captain Commander Pedron Niall holds the deposed Queen Morgase of Andor captive in Lord of Chaos. In Knife of Dreams Galad Damodred kills his successor Eamon Valda in a Trial Under the Light and becomes Lord Captain Commander; his wish to join forces with the Aes Sedai splits the order, and the High Inquisitor Rhadam Asunawa of the Hand of the Light is executed when the Whitecloaks swear to Galad. Dain Bornhald leads a legion of Whitecloaks to occupy the Two Rivers before Perrin Aybara drives them out, and in Towers of Midnight the order tries Perrin for killing two of its men.
