The Asha'man are male channelers, counterparts to the Aes Sedai, trained at the Black Tower, a converted farmhouse near Caemlyn. In Lord of Chaos, after Rand al'Thor offers an amnesty to men who can channel, Mazrim Taim swears allegiance to him and together they found the Black Tower.
Lore & Background
Asha'man fight beside Rand against Sammael at Shadar Logoth in A Crown of Swords and in his campaign against the Seanchan in The Path of Daggers, and in Winter's Heart Rand kills most of the Asha'man traitors in Far Madding.
