Travelling gleeman and former court bard to Queen Morgase of Andor.
Thomdril 'Thom' Merrilin is a travelling gleeman and adventurer, formerly bard to Queen Morgase of Andor. In The Eye of the World he is in the remote village of Emond's Field when Trollocs attack it, and he joins the young villagers who flee under the guidance of the Aes Sedai Moiraine Damodred and her Warder Lan Mandragoran.
Lore & Background
Thom is presumed dead after he fights a Fade, or Myrddraal, so that Rand al'Thor and Mat Cauthon can escape, but he turns up alive and is reunited with Rand in The Great Hunt. In The Dragon Reborn he helps Mat foil a plot to assassinate Elayne Trakand. He is played by Alexandre Willaume in the television adaptation, first appearing in the 2021 episode A Place of Safety.
