Warders
Male protectors magically bonded to an Aes Sedai.
A Warder is a male protector whom an Aes Sedai, with the exception of the Red Ajah, may choose to bond magically. The link gives the Warder heightened senses, strength, stamina and resistance to injury. Lan Mandragoran, Warder to Moiraine Damodred, guides the young villagers out of Emond's Field in The Eye of the World.
Lore & Background
A bond can be passed on: in A Crown of Swords Egwene al'Vere uses the transfer of Lan's bond from Moiraine to Myrelle to force Myrelle and Nisao to swear fealty to her. Men can be bonded too: Alanna Mosvani bonds Rand al'Thor against his will in Lord of Chaos, and Elayne, Aviendha and Min bond him as their Warder in Winter's Heart.
