Oath Rod

Rand al'Thor

Rand al'Thor, introduced in The Eye of the World, is a sheep herder from Emond's Field whose village is attacked by Trollocs. He flees with Moiraine Damodred, an Aes Sedai who believes he may be the Dragon Reborn. At the Eye of the World, Rand channels uncorrupted saidin and defeats the Forsaken Aginor, proving his identity. The Amyrlin Seat Siuan Sanche confirms this in The Great Hunt, and Lan Mandragoran trains him in swordplay.

Rand later claims the sa'angreal Callandor in the Stone of Tear. He learns his parents are Shaiel, an Aiel Maiden, and Janduin, a Taardad chief. Selene, revealed as the Forsaken Lanfear, tries to kill him when he rejects her. Rand founds the Asha'man at the Black Tower, defeats Sammael, and takes the crown of Illian.

In A Memory of Light, he confronts the Dark One, using a weave of saidin, saidar, and the True Power to recreate the Dark One's prison. Josha Stradowski portrays Rand in the television adaptation.

Perrin Aybara

Wolfbrothers have golden eyes, heightened senses, strength, and speed, and tend toward aggressive behavior in battle. They can also navigate Tel'aran'rhiod, the World of Dreams. Marcus Rutherford portrays Perrin in the television adaptation.
