Kabuto Yakushi

Background

Found as a child on a battlefield with no memory of his past, Kabuto was raised by a nun from Konohagakure and then recruited by the Foundation to infiltrate countries and organisations. When the Foundation decided he knew too many secrets, he went over to Orochimaru, who promised him an identity of his own. Using his old connections, and by infiltrating the Akatsuki, he gathers intelligence for Orochimaru; he even enters the Chunin Exams as a Konoha representative to study the other participants. He is highly skilled in medical techniques and genetic manipulation, healing wounds by reactivating dead cells and forming a chakra scalpel for surgical strikes.

In Part II, after Sasuke defeats his mentor, Kabuto merges some of Orochimaru's remains into his own body so that he need never serve anyone again. He masters snake Sage Jutsu and augments himself with DNA from the Sound Five, Jugo, Suigetsu and Karin. Having perfected the Reanimation Jutsu, he brings back Madara Uchiha as his trump card and forces Obito Uchiha into an uneasy alliance with the promise of Sasuke once the Ninja Alliance is beaten.

On the second day of the Fourth Great Ninja War, Itachi breaks free of his control and, with Sasuke's help, makes him end the jutsu. Trapped in Itachi's Izanami genjutsu, Kabuto reconsiders his life and decides he should save Sasuke. After the war, watched by the Hidden Leaf, he returns to run the orphanage of his childhood with his adopted brother Urushi. Nobutoshi Canna voices him in Japanese and Henry Dittman in English.
