Pteropurpura, whose members are called stag shells, is a genus of marine gastropod mollusks. These sea snails belong to the subfamily Ocenebrinae within the family Muricidae, the group that includes murex snails and rock snails. The genus contains a number of species, though many former members have since been moved to other genera. Recognized species include *Pteropurpura benderskyi*, *P. bequaerti*, *P. centrifuga*, *P. dearmata*, *P. deroyana*, *P. erinaceoides*, *P. esycha*, *P. fairiana*, *P. festiva*, the extinct †*P. friedbergi*, *P. macroptera*, *P. modesta*, *P. plorator*, *P. sanctaehelenae*, *P. stimpsoni*, *P. trialata*, and *P. vokesae*.
