Indominus Rex Genome

Indominus rex is the hybrid dinosaur at the centre of Jurassic World (2015), created by Dr Henry Wu at the request of CEO Simon Masrani to boost park attendance. The film says its base genome is T. rex, with added DNA from Velociraptor, cuttlefish and tree frog; the film's promotional website adds Carnotaurus, Giganotosaurus, Majungasaurus and Rugops. Director Colin Trevorrow said the mix gave it traits no known dinosaur had.

Its cuttlefish DNA lets it camouflage itself, and it can sense thermal radiation. It is white, has long arms with raptor-like claws, and can walk on two or four legs. Trevorrow made it a hybrid rather than an invented species because he did not want to make up a new dinosaur and tell children it was real. In Fallen Kingdom, DNA from a fragment of its skeleton is used to create the smaller Indoraptor.
