Brachiosaurus
The first dinosaur the visitors see in Jurassic Park.
In the original Jurassic Park film a Brachiosaurus is the first dinosaur the park's visitors see, a moment Empire ranked 28th among cinema's most magical. In the novel and Crichton's first drafts that first dinosaur was an Apatosaurus; Phil Tippett suggested the larger Brachiosaurus.
The crew cut branches from tall trees so the animation of its bites could be synced to them, and a 7.5 ft puppet of the upper neck and head was built for a later scene in a treetop. The film takes liberties: the puppet's head is about three times the size of the real one, and the animal rears on its hind legs and chews its food. Whale songs and donkey calls were used for its sounds.
