Heian Era
The golden age of jujutsu sorcerers, a thousand years before Yuji Itadori.
The Heian era, more than a thousand years before the main story, is called the golden age of jujutsu sorcerers. Ryomen Sukuna lived in it as the most powerful curse user of his time, served by an underling named Uraume.
Lore & Background
Sukuna was an enemy of the Yamato family, yet some worshiped him as a deity. He ate his twin brother in the womb, and after his death he persisted through twenty indestructible fingers. Yorozu, a sorcerer from Aizu recognized by the Fujiwara clan, belonged to the same era and was infatuated with him.
Reader's Guide
The era shapes the present-day plot: Kenjaku stages the Shibuya Incident and the Culling Game to recreate the Heian era in modern Japan, and Heian sorcerers such as Yorozu return as incarnated players.
