Yuji Itadori's Execution Order
A death warrant issued to prevent the apocalypse, suspended by the world's strongest sorcerer.
Yuji Itadori's Execution Order stands as a defining decree in modern jujutsu society—a death warrant signed before he could even speak. Issued after Yuji swallowed Ryomen Sukuna's finger, the order treats him as Sukuna's vessel, to be exorcised along with the Curse inside him. This was not mere bureaucracy; it was the Jujutsu Higher-Ups’ desperate attempt to contain an existential threat before it could breathe fire upon humanity.

Lore & Background
In the eyes of the higher-ups, mercy was a luxury they could not afford. It was only Satoru Gojo’s sheer leverage that stalled the blade; he wagered Yuji's life against the potential gain of having him consume all twenty fingers first. This gamble created a fragile suspension: the order remained legally active, hanging over Yuji like guillotine blades ready to drop the moment Gojo's protection faltered or Yuji lost control.
Reader's Guide
The arc begins immediately after Yuji Itadori ingests one of Ryomen Sukuna's fingers to save his friends from a curse. The higher-ups, a secretive council governing the jujutsu world, issue an immediate execution order for Yuji, viewing him as nothing more than a vessel that must be destroyed to prevent Sukuna's full resurrection. Satoru Gojo, the school's teacher and the strongest sorcerer alive, intervenes before the execution can take place. He argues that killing Yuji now would waste the opportunity to have him consume all remaining fingers under supervision, thereby neutralizing the threat permanently in a controlled manner.
The higher-ups reluctantly agree to this temporary reprieve, establishing a probationary period where Yuji is allowed to live and hunt curses, provided he consumes every finger and remains under Gojo's watch. This event establishes the central dynamic of the series: Yuji exists in a state of suspended execution. He is free to act as a sorcerer only because Gojo shields him from the higher-ups' authority. After Gojo is sealed in Shibuya the threat becomes real: the higher-ups reinstate the execution and name Yuta Okkotsu as executioner, though Yuta, loyal to Gojo, fakes Yuji's death instead. This plot point drives much of the political intrigue and character motivation throughout the early story.
