Idle Transfiguration is the Cursed Technique of Mahito, a Special Grade Cursed Spirit embodying human hatred. It lets him perceive and reshape souls, his own included, and so transform the bodies they belong to.

Lore & Background
Mahito uses it to turn people into grotesque transfigured humans, who, as Kento Nanami discovers, are still alive and suffering. Junpei Yoshino, whose technique Mahito awakened, is transformed and dies begging Yuji Itadori for help. By reshaping his own soul Mahito alters his body to escape Nanami, and in Shibuya he turns the technique on himself to take his ultimate form, the Instant Spirit Body of Distorted Killing. In Shibuya he kills Nanami with a touch to the back and destroys the left side of Nobara Kugisaki's face. Yuji's blows and Nobara's Resonance can hurt him because they reach the soul. After Kenjaku absorbs Mahito, he uses Idle Transfiguration on the people he has marked, activating their Cursed Techniques for the Culling Game.
