Curse Users represent a distinct and dangerous subset within the jujutsu world: sorcerers who have turned against their own kind to serve malevolent forces or pursue personal power through forbidden means. Unlike Cursed Spirits, which are born from human negative emotions, these individuals retain their human form but wield cursed energy with malicious intent, often acting as the primary antagonists alongside high-grade spirits. Some work for hire, like the pair Kenjaku pays to raise curtains in Shibuya, while others band together, such as the group called Q or the followers of Suguru Geto. Their existence challenges the rigid hierarchy of the three major clans and the Tokyo/Kyoto schools, serving as the catalyst for many of the series' most devastating conflicts.

The line between a jujutsu sorcerer and a curse user is often drawn by allegiance rather than ability. Any individual capable of sensing and manipulating cursed energy can theoretically become a threat, but those labeled as 'Curse Users' have explicitly rejected the societal contract to protect non-sorcerers. Suguru Geto, once a Special Grade sorcerer and Jujutsu High student, was declared a curse user after he massacred a village. The story highlights that the true danger often lies not in mindless spirits, but in intelligent humans who understand the mechanics of cursed energy and choose to weaponize it against their former allies.
