Hootle is a Dahnan owlet and Rinwell's companion in Tales of Arise. United by their feelings of loneliness, Hootle's bond with Rinwell is such that he takes an immediate dislike to anyone Rinwell distrusts.

Background

Hootle hangs around Rinwell, flying behind her or sitting in her cloak hood. Initially distant from Alphen and the others, he slowly warms to them during the journey and particularly likes to rival Law. Rinwell considered Hootle her only friend before meeting the party, and the two understand each other. In gameplay Hootle alerts the player to nearby Dahnan owls; finding an owl grants an attachment and more rewards from the Owl Forest. He is small and white, with the elasticity of a soft marshmallow. Hatched in cold Cyslodia, he is well adapted to the cold; according to Rinwell, Dahnan owls absorb the astral energy of the place they live in and their feathers change color with the element as they grow, which is why Hootle, still a baby, is white.
