Rinwell

The last of the Dahnan Mages, a Cyslodian scout who fights with astral artes beside her owl Hootle.

Rinwell is a playable character in Tales of Arise. She is a young Dahnan woman who, despite her Dahnan blood, is able to use astral artes, and is perhaps the last of the Dahnan Mages.

Background

Before the Renan invasion the Dahnan Mages were already viewed with loathing, and the Renans hunted them to the brink of extinction. Rinwell's parents kept a low profile while teaching her astral artes, until an arte she cast in secret served as a beacon to the Renan Lord Almeidrea Kaineris, who found and killed them while Rinwell watched. She swore never to use astral artes again and became a scout for the Cyslodian resistance. After Alphen and Shionne defeated Balseph she stumbled into Calaglia and collapsed, having been sent to enlist help for Cyslodia; Alphen, Shionne and Zephyr agreed to help her, although she was appalled that a Renan would.

She harbors hostility toward Renans, including Shionne and Dohalim, but comes to see Shionne as the big sister she never had. Her companion is the Dahnan owlet Hootle. In battle she is a long-distance fighter who relies on astral artes; her perk, Magic Charging, lets her delay an arte and use it alongside other attacks.
