Background

Zeugles are created from animals that inhabit Dahna and have the ability to use astral artes. Several have escaped their Renan masters; through cross-breeding and mutation these strays are as much a threat to their former masters as to Dahnans, have overtaken or integrated themselves into the Dahnan ecosystem, and attack Dahnans on sight. After the collapse of Lenegis they become uncontrollable strays that threaten Dahnan and Renan alike. Larger and stronger variants called Gigants are rare and very dangerous, most of them experimental zeugles that escaped captivity; it is unlikely they can reproduce, as each species never reappears after being defeated.
