Tim Murphy
John Hammond's dinosaur-loving grandson.
Tim Murphy is Lex Murphy's brother and John Hammond's grandson in the Jurassic Park franchise. In the novel, Tim is described as a bespectacled boy of about eleven who has an interest in dinosaurs and computers. In Spielberg's film he is portrayed by Joseph Mazzello, and his and Lex's ages are swapped.

In the novel, his quick thinking and encyclopedic knowledge of dinosaurs aid the group several times, and his technical knowledge allows him to navigate the park's computer systems and reactivate the physical security systems before the Velociraptors gain access to the visitor's lodge. In the film, Tim is still the child interested in dinosaurs, but all of his computer knowledge is given to Lex. Like Lex, Tim makes a cameo in the second film during Ian Malcolm's visit to John Hammond.
